Tom Hanks
Hanks his next film role was as astronaut and commander Jim Lovell in the 1995 docudrama Apollo 13. This reunited him with Ron Howard. The film's performances , as well as Kevin Bacon's portrayal were appreciated by reviewers. The film was nominated for nine Academy Awards, and it won two. The following year, Hanks starred in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated film Toy Story (1995), as the voice of Sheriff Woody. A year later Hanks made his directorial debut in the musical comedy That Thing You Do! (1996) which chronicles the decline and rise of a 60s-era music group. He also took on the role of a music producer. Time magazine's Richard Schickel described his performance as "charming" and the majority of people who reviewed the film agreed that Hanksperformance has earned him a place among the most romantic comedic actors of his time.
